Why You Can't Miss A Belize Sunset

One of the highlights of any stay on Caye Caulker are the absolutely perfect sunsets at the end of each day. From the time the sun even begins to just dip a little, the whole island is drenched in golden sunshine with the west side of the island offering the best view point. People start heading to the west side from as early as late afternoon to secure themselves the best spot to enjoy this magical time.

Grab some drinks or snacks and find yourself a spot along the many jettys or sandy banks facing the sunset and enjoy the atmosphere. To be honest, the area is very small and it almost feels like everyone from the island is trying to find the perfect spot. There are only a couple of restaurants (more like food stands) offering tables and drink service, so if you're looking for a table you will need to get there very early. We walked along the shore, finding several different spots to stop and take photos before continuing on our walk.

After the sun has set completely (or while the sun is going down if you're lucky enough to grab yourself a waterside seat) I would highly recommend stopping by Terry's Grill - now also known as Dee 'n' D's - for a local dinner. It doesn't look like much, just a few tables set up by the water and a couple of guys cooking a BBQ in the middle, but the food was just delicious! They offer local Belize dishes, as well as several different meat dishes and local cocktails. Everyone there was so friendly and the laid back vibe is just the perfect way to spend an island evening. By far the best food we had on all of Caye Caulker!
