If you have the opportunity, everyone should spend a night sleeping in a treehouse amongst the South African wildlife. Our last night of safari was spent at Marc’s Treehouse Lodge. It’s a completely rustic experience, much closer to Kruger National Park, that completely immerses you in the South African bush! We stayed in an en suite treehouse – which includes a bathroom with a shower and toilet. It was incredible! You could hear the wildlife in the far off distance, and the fact that you had to sleep in a mosquito net or you would be completely eaten alive just added to the experience! It was just fantastic.
Both Tremisana Lodge and Marc’s Treehouse Lodge offer really lovely family environments. Where everyone eats together at one long table, and gets to know everyone in the camp. It’s great to hear other people’s stories, what made them come to South Africa and other things they have experienced on their travels. I can’t speak highly enough of the staff or the experience. Amazing.
Our last day of safari started off with a quick early morning bush walk, before beginning the 6 hour drive back to Johannesburg. We did stop on the way home to check out Blyde River Canon, which are the pictures you can see at the bottom of this post! Blyde River Canon is one of the largest canons on Earth, and has some of the deepest cliffs of any canon on the planet. We bought our last few souvenirs from the markets lining the road of the Canon, and we were on our way back to Johannesburg.
