Bali Eats: Nalu Bowls

It might sound crazy, but one of the places I was most excited to visit in Bali was Nalu Bowls, a cute smoothie bowl shack offering the perfect treat for those balmy Bali days. I had been following them on Instagram for a while, and I just could not wait to try all their smoothie bowl creations!

Their signature bowl is the Mavericks, which is also Bali’s first real Acai Bowl, powered by Brazil’s most famous superfood! While we were there they were out of acai, so I tried the Macaronis (image above) which was made of papaya, mango, dragon fruit, pineapple, strawberry and apple juice, topped with banana, granola and coconut flakes; and the Pipeline (image below) which was made of banana, pineapple, mango, coconut, coconut milk and coconut water, topped with granola and coconut flakes.

Nalu is the Hawaiian word for wave. Nalu Bowls was inspired by Hawaii and the culture that revolves around surfing and tropical ingredients. It is the perfect way to start your day in Bali, with every bowl named after one of their favourite wave breaks from around the world. There are now three places you can find Nalu Bowls on Bali Island, including Seminyak, Uluwatu (at Single Fin Restaurant and Bar) and Canggu (before Echo Beach), so there is no reason for you not to try them!

And if you’re a super dork like me and have been following them for months on the lead up to your trip to Bali, you can also purchase a t-shirt, hat or shopping bag to remember them forever!
